Chlorine

Chlorine is the most used disinfectant for swimming pools due to its effectiveness in maintaining water hygiene. When added to pool water, chlorine dissolves to form hypochlorous acid (HOCl), which penetrates and destroys harmful microorganisms like bacteria, viruses, and protozoa. It also helps control algae growth and breaks down organic contaminants such as body oils and sweat, keeping the water clean and clear.

One of chlorine's key benefits is its residual presence, which ensures ongoing disinfection and protection against new contaminants introduced by swimmers or the environment.  It is essential to maintain proper chlorine levels to avoid health risks. Regular monitoring keeps the pool safe and comfortable, balancing effective disinfection with the comfort of swimmers.

Ideal Chlorine Levels in Summer: 3.0 -5.0 ppm (parts per million)

Ideal Chlorine Levels in Winter: 1.0 – 3.0 ppm (parts per million)
