Metals

Copper, iron, and manganese are metals that can be found in pool water, often causing various issues related to water quality, staining, and swimmer comfort. These metals can enter pool water from various sources such as specialty chemicals (algaecides), corroding copper pipes and equipment, fill water, and landscape treatments.

Ideally, you do not want metals like copper, iron, and manganese in your pool water. While small traces of these metals may be naturally present, elevated levels can cause several problems.

Effects of High Levels of Metals:

· Discoloration of pool water

· Pool surface stains

· Reduced water quality

· Scaling

· Skin irritation

· Hair discoloration

· Blue pools can turn green when chlorine is added
